Salman Wassay leaves Zong, joins Ufone

ApnaTime has learnt from the reliable sources that Director Marketing, Mr. Salman Wassay has resigned from Zong and moved on for a next big challenge in Ufone.

According to a source at Ufone, Mr. Abdul Aziz, President and CEO of Ufone has just announced Mr. Wassay’s appointment as Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) of Ufone. The move seems to be very critical at a time when Zong has just recently crossed Warid Telecom in terms of subscriber base. Industry analysts believe that Zong achieved its first milestone in Pakistani Telecom market by introducing some out of the box products. In just few months from the date of its launch, Zong remained in the lime light because of straightforward and heart touching communication with its customers though number of quality campaigns and innovative and lucrative offers.

According to a senior official at a local cellular company, “After crossing Warid, Zong’s management found it relatively easier to target Ufone in the coming months. However, considering the gravity of situation, Mr. Abdul Aziz and the Etisalat management has played smartly to deal with the future situation by making commitment with the man who is doing wonders at the moment”.

The current situation has taken Zong’s entire team by surprise as Mr. Wassay becomes third major leading official to have left the company during past four months after Mr. Zafar Usmani (Ex-COO, Zong) and Mr. Ali Raza Mehdi (Ex-Director HR, Zong). Under these circumstances, it has become even more challenging now for Zong to maintain the same pace especially from the point of view that no one had so far appointed on the positions of COO and Director HR. And now with Mr. Wassay leaving the company, the troika has broken leaving enough vacuum that may affect the future course of the company.

With 22 years of vast experience, Salman was the key member of the launch team at Ufone.
