Major Theft Uncovered: Cancer Drugs Worth Rs 360 Million Stolen from Civil Hospital Karachi
In a shocking incident, cancer drugs valued at Rs 360 million have reportedly been stolen from Civil Hospital Karachi, ARY News reported on Friday. This significant case of medicine theft has led to the registration of a case against several employees of the health department at the Eidgah police station.
The complaint, filed by the Medical Superintendent of Civil Hospital, disclosed that an astounding 76,000 cancer pills were stolen over a span of 10 months. The theft, which occurred between February 17, 2023, and September 26, 2023, is believed to involve two hospital employees, Niaz Khaskheli and Iqbal.
The discovery of the missing medicines has raised grave concerns about internal oversight and security within the hospital. The theft came to light following a complaint about the medication's expiration dates, prompting an inquiry. Police officials are currently conducting raids to apprehend those involved in this alarming crime.
