Lt Gen Muhammad Asim Malik Appointed New ISI Chief, Replacing Lt Gen Nadeem Anjum

Lieutenant General Muhammad Asim Malik has been appointed as the new Director General of Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), replacing Lt Gen Nadeem Anjum, the Inter-Service Public Relations (ISPR) announced. Lt Gen Malik is set to officially take charge of his new role as the country's spymaster on September 30. He is currently serving as the adjutant general at the General Headquarters (GHQ).

Lt Gen Malik brings extensive experience to his new position, having commanded the Balochistan infantry division and an infantry brigade in Waziristan. A decorated officer, he has earned the prestigious Sword of Honor and served as a chief instructor at the National Defence University (NDU) and an instructor at the Command and Staff College in Quetta. His operational expertise and leadership roles have prepared him for this critical role in Pakistan's security apparatus.

Lt Gen Malik's academic background is equally impressive, with military education from Fort Leavenworth in the United States and the Royal College of Defence Studies in London. His wide-ranging experience in both leadership and training positions makes him a strong fit for the top intelligence post, where he will play a crucial role in Pakistan's national security.
