Dhaka Police Arrests Nine, Uncovers Secret Sale and Supply of Weapons to Criminals
The army conducted raids on several shops and warehouses in Dhaka's New Market area on Saturday, seizing approximately 1,100 sharp weapons and arresting nine individuals connected to their sale and supply. According to Lieutenant Colonel Nazim of the 46 Independent Infantry Brigade, the weapons were being secretly sold, rented, and even delivered to terrorists free of charge.
Acting on intelligence gathered over recent days, the army searched three to four shops, recovering the main stock from three of them. Authorities stated that such locally-made weapons have been increasingly stockpiled in recent months and are frequently used by criminals.
